Travel Tips
🍃 Passport Validity: Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your arrival date in Indonesia and have at least two blank pages. Entry will be denied if this requirement is not met.
🍃 Visa on Arrival (VOA) or Electronic Visa on Arrival (e-VOA)
Citizens from many countries, including the US, EU countries and Japan are eligible for a VOA or e-VOA.
The VOA/e-VOA costs IDR 500,000 (approx. $35 USD). This can be paid upon arrival at the airport or online in advance for the e-VOA. Applying for an e-VOA online before departure (can take 24 hours to process) can speed up the process upon arrival. Check official website here.
🍃 Bali Tourist Tax: on top of the VOA above, all visitors to Bali are required to pay the Bali tourism tax of 150.000 IDR (10 USD). Purchasing it in advance from here can speed up the arrival process at the airport.
VISA & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
CURRENCY
While Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted in Bali, we recommend to have some cash at arrival. Local cash is Indonesian Rupiah (IDR).
🍃 Money changer: Look for official money changers (often marked with "Authorized Money Changer") or banks. These are the safest options to avoid extra fees.
🍃ATMs: ATMs are widely available. Prioritize ATMs located inside or directly beside major bank branches (e.g., BCA, BNI, Mandiri, BRI, Permata).
Wifi is typically available in all hotels. You can also use 4G/5G for convenience.
🍃 Local SIM Cards: Easily available at the airport or local shops. We recommend to buy at Denpasar Airport (DPS). This is one of the most convenient places to buy a prepaid SIM card immediately upon arrival. You'll find kiosks from major providers like Telkomsel and XL Axiata after passing customs. Average price for 25GB for 30 days can cost around IDR 150,000 (approximately 10 USD).
🍃eSIM: If you’d like to use, ensure your device is compatible first. Select a global provider such as Saily, Holafly, Nomad and purchase a data plan online; prices typically start from around 5-10 USD for basic packages.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
For health and safety in Bali, consider travel insurance, drink bottled water, and avoid drinks with ice and raw food in the first days. Also, bring protection against sun and mosquitoes.
No vaccine is mandatory for Bali. We recommend to consult a travel clinic in case you are considering vaccination.
Recommendations:
- Avoid tap water and only drink from closed bottles (even when brushing your teeth).
- Avoid raw food and fruits that are not peeled during the first days after arrival.
- Ask for drinks without ice in restaurants.
WEATHER
Bali's "summer" (dry season, April-October) sees consistently warm temperatures, typically ranging from 27-30°C (81-86°F) with daytime highs reaching 31-33°C (88-91°F).
HOW TO GET AROUND THE ISLAND
Bali has convenient transport options. Taxis (Bluebird) and ride‑hailing apps (Grab, Gojek) offer easy, upfront pricing, and you can also book cars through hotels or apps in advance (KLOOK). Public transport is not recommended.
🍃From Denpasar airport: From Denpasar Airport: Use the official airport taxi counter (fixed rates) or book through Grab/Gojek app from designated pick‑up points. Hotel transfers are also available.
🍃Full‑day driver: Hiring a private car with a driver for 8–10 hours is common and costs around IDR 500,000–800,000 ($30-$45)—great for visiting multiple areas.
Always confirm prices before starting your journey or use ride-hailing apps for transparent fares.
(Some reference prices: Denpasar à Kuta/Seminyak : IDR 150,000 (approx. $10). Denpasar à Ubud : IDR 300,000 (approx. $20).

• Ubud – Bali’s cultural hub with rice terraces, arts, temples, and a peaceful atmosphere.
• Seminyak – Trendy and upscale, known for boutiques, great restaurants, spas, and stylish beach clubs.
• Kuta – Famous for its long surfing beach and lively, budget‑friendly accommodations, bars, and eateries.
• Canggu – Popular with surfers and digital nomads; black‑sand beaches, cafés, and a relaxed boho vibe.
• Sanur – Calm, shallow waters ideal for families, with a lovely seaside promenade and sunrise views.
• Nusa Dua – A luxury resort area with pristine beaches and golf courses.
• Gili Islands – (Air, Trawangan, Meno) Great for longer stays; accessible by 2–3 hour speedboat from the east coast.
Our wedding venue is located in the SABA area, on the east of the island. The closest major cities are Sanur (30 min by car) or Ubud (45 min). We’d recommend staying in those areas around the wedding.
